On December 11th, the Council officially launched our FY15 Homemaker Wage Increase budget campaign at the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) public hearing to gather testimony from members of the public on the FY15 budget. This hearing was chaired by EOHHS Secretary John Polanowicz who was joined by leaders of his Secretariat, including Executive Office of Elder Affairs Secretary Ann Hartstein.

During this hearing, Council Legislative Committee Chairman Paul Dzialo from Affinity Home Health Care, Council Executive Director Lisa Gurgone, and Kim Santos, Home Care Aide from Affinity Home Health Care provided verbal and written testimony in support of the Council's FY15 budget request. Gurgone began the Council's testimony by providing a brief overview of the request. Santos followed describing her work and explaining why she loved working as a home care aide. Dzialo closed by articulating the commitment of the many home care aides he is proud to employ who, like Santos, are extremely dedicated to the clients they serve yet struggling to make ends meet.

The Council is extremely grateful to Kim and Paul for taking the time to share their stories with Secretary Polanowicz and his leadership team.
