Monday, January 30, 2017
The Council is excited to report that Executive Director, Lisa Gurgone, is quoted in a New York Times article on the important role refugees play in our communities and our home care workforce. This article highlights a home health aide training program and job fair the Foundation helped coordinate. The initiative, spearheaded by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, was driven by a partnership made up of community organizations in Lowell including the International Institute of New England, Middlesex Community College, the Greater Lowell Workforce Development Board, the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and the Career Center of Lowell.
The Council and our partners send a very special thank you to Associated Home Care, and their CEO and Council Board President Michael Trigilio, for sponsoring the home health aide training class conducted by Middlesex Community College. Also, thank you to Intercity Home Care, Right at Home Bedford, HomeCare, Inc., and Multicultural Home Care who also participated in the job fair.
