HEART Training

   HEART Consortium Workforce Development

The goal of this initiative is to assist low-income, under-
   employed or unemployed individuals (particularly)
targeting those in a specific geographic area of Boston
living in public housing) in gaining employment as home
care aides. To do this, an enhanced training program was
designed, to include home health aide training with
   additional components: case management, financial
literacy training, career readiness, and additional life

skill prep. This training was developed in part, with information gathered through an industry assessment, conducted using focus groups and interviews. In total, 23 home health aides, 19 nurse supervisors, and 7 human resource staff from four agencies participated in the focus groups and interviews. Three Home Health Aide training classes took place in 2016 and three additional trainings are planned for 2017.

This grant is funded by SkillWorks, Partners Healthcare and Commonwealth Corporation.
